Meet Rudi – Our Gelato Master
Ciao! I’m Rudi, and while I didn’t grow up in a gelato-making family, my passion for gelato runs deep. I trained in Italy to master the art of traditional gelato and bring that craft to every scoop we serve. I’m originally from Pertegada, a small town near Lignano Beach on the Adriatic Sea, in the northeast of Italy—where good food and summer treats are a way of life. |
The Italian Adriatic coast is a popular holiday spot for locals and tourists from all over Europe—especially in spring and summer—where fresh, artisan gelato is part of daily life.
Before moving to Australia, I worked at Brunzin Gelateria, a beloved shop owned by a close friend, where I gained hands-on experience and deepened my passion for crafting authentic Italian gelato. |
I opened Matilda The Art Of Gelato 7 years ago, in a little gem suburb called Wynnum, in the bayside of Brisbane, with the help of my partner and our two beautiful little daughters.

My gelato is made with love and passion, using the best ingredients and little sugar to enrich the flavour. When you taste my gelato you have a real Italian experience! |
